First steps when you load in
StepWhen you first start the game you choose between Ghoul and CCG. Once you have picked a side, get your controls set up before you try to fight anyone.
- Enable Mouse-Lock press Left Ctrl or Left Alt; this locks your camera to your character.
- Learn the movement keys Shift dashes in the default control scheme, and X toggles sprinting.
- Set your blocking key Q or T both work for blocking.
- Check the INFO button at the bottom of your screen it opens a full introduction to the game's rules written for your faction.
- Switch control schemes if needed go to Settings in-game and tap the DEFAULT or LEGACY label to toggle; Legacy uses double-tap direction keys to dash, Default uses Shift.
How leveling and currency work
SummaryThree currencies run almost everything in Ro-Ghoul. Stages — the upgrades to your kagune or quinque — are unlocked mainly by accumulating RC Cells, though some later stages also require a minimum character level.
Earning rewards through tasks and bosses
TipsTasks from NPCs are the main reputation source early on. Every boss displays its required level in its name, and players below that threshold deal no damage and receive no aggro. Three bosses can be active on the map at once — one from each tier — but two of the same boss cannot spawn simultaneously.
- Speak to Kuzen Yoshimura at Anteiku (Ghoul) or Kishou Arima at CCG Tower (CCG) to pick up tasks.
- Read task penalties before accepting — some tasks fail if too many unintended targets are killed during completion.
- Low-level bosses (Fighter at level 50+, Touka and Nishiki at level 300+) respawn every two and a half minutes.
- Medium-level bosses Koutarou Amon and Young Eto both require level 750+ and share a tier, so only one of them is up at a time; they respawn every five minutes.
- High-level bosses Eto Yoshimura, Kishou Arima, and Gyakusatsu all require level 1250+.
- Collecting a fallen boss's corpse cuts its respawn timer by fifteen seconds, but Eto Yoshimura's corpse explodes instead of remaining.
Private servers and where Gyakusatsu appears
WarnPrivate servers let you play with friends without random players joining, but two things you cannot do there: Gyakusatsu does not spawn in private servers, and Hearts are not obtainable in private servers. If either of those is your goal for a session, switch to a public server.
Starter kagunes worth knowing
TableWhen you start as a Ghoul you can pick from four starter kagunes: Nishiki, Kaneki, Touka, and Tsukiyama. Nishiki is a bikaku type — balanced damage, speed, and defense, purely close-range. Its Stage 2 unlocks at 15,000 RC Cells and Stage 3 (an incomplete kakuja) at 7,500,000 RC Cells; Stage 3 gives 1.25x speed, increased dash distance, and increased dash speed as passive bonuses, at the cost of heavy camera shake.
| Nishiki | balanced close-range bikaku; Stage 3 passive gives 1.25x speed plus 1.4 dash distance and 1.25 dash speed, offset by constant screen shake from the Insanity passive. |
| Hinami | chimera kagune combining rinkaku offense and koukaku defense; Stage 1 block is toggleable and unbreakable with 75% damage reduction, Stage 2 unlocks at 10,000,000 RC Cells. |
| Eto | ukaku kagune with four stages including kakuja forms; Stage 2 needs 7,500,000 RC Cells and level 1000, Stages 3 and 4 both need 10,000,000 RC Cells and level 1000. |
| Eto Stage 4 | uses a fixed pure-white color regardless of your chosen colors, and its Fury passive reduces incoming damage by 25% and scales up as you take hits. |
PvP combat basics
TipsCombat is fast and punishing. Allies work through a mutual system — if someone allies you but you do not ally them back, you take damage from them but cannot deal damage to them, so check your allies list regularly.
- Keep Mouse-Lock on during fights so your specials fire in the direction your camera faces.
- Block with Q or T to reduce incoming damage; your block durability is tied to your Focus stat.
- Press Tab to open the server leaderboard, or hold Tab to get a quick ally list — mutual allies show as green, unreciprocated ones show as orange.
- Learn your kagune's untargetable frames — moves like Nishiki Stage 1's R make you briefly untargetable.
Redeeming codes
StepCodes hand out Yen, RC Cells, Color Credits, and Hearts in one go. Update codes in particular expire fast, so redeem them as soon as you see them announced in the official Ro-Ghoul Discord.
- Open the codes menu click the button in the game's UI.
- Type the code exactly no extra spaces before, inside, or after the code.
- Click SUBMIT CODE a notification appears in the bottom-right corner confirming the rewards; one notification shows the code name and another titled 'Code Rewards' lists what was given.
- Check which save is active first the rewards go only to the save you are currently on (Ghoul or CCG), and you cannot redo the redemption on the other save.
- Watch the Discord codes are only released by the developer there, and expired codes are removed.
The Boosts system
SummaryFuruta, found in an alley behind Anteiku, runs the Boosts feature. Each session you can scale up your character's power by PvPing, with buffs chosen through a random selection system that has roguelike elements. Boosts apply against bosses, other players, and NPCs, but they are turned off inside the arena.

Common questions
FAQCan I use a code on both my Ghoul save and my CCG save?
No. When you redeem a code, the rewards go only to whichever save you are currently playing. Codes can only be used once per account total.
Why did my RC Cells reset when I bought a new kagune?
Buying a new kagune or quinque with Yen resets your RC Cell count back to 800.
What happens if I go below the level requirement near a boss?
If your level is lower than the number shown in a boss's name, you deal no damage to it and it will not attack you.
Why can't I collect Gyakusatsu's rewards in a private server?
Gyakusatsu does not spawn in private servers at all, and Hearts cannot be obtained there either. Switch to a public server if you want to fight Gyakusatsu or earn Hearts.
My block won't turn off on mobile — is that a bug?
Yes, this is a known issue. If you are using a kagune or quinque that has a permanent-block mechanic on mobile, the block will not release until your character dies.
Where do I find new codes?
Codes are released by the developer in the official Ro-Ghoul Discord. Update codes expire quickly, so redeem them as soon as they are announced.
