Your first actions when the game starts

Step
In short Mining that first block and expanding your island quickly is the foundation of staying alive.

The game begins on a single block, and everything you need has to come from breaking what is around you. Every block in the world can be destroyed, so start swinging and gather as much material as you can before the sun goes down. Use what you collect to expand your platform and begin building a base.

  1. Break the starting block smash it to collect your first materials and open up space to work.
  2. Keep mining every block you destroy adds to your stockpile, so do not stop until night is close.
  3. Expand the platform place blocks outward to give yourself room to build a real base.
  4. Build walls and a floor stack materials into a structure that can slow down enemies.

Surviving the night

Warn
In short Every night is more dangerous than the last, so your base needs to be solid before the sun goes down.

Because all blocks are destructible, enemies can break through walls if you leave gaps or run out of repair materials. Kill your first enemy to earn the First Blood badge, and keep fighting toward 100 kills for the Exterminator badge.

Worth watching out for
Do not leave holes in your walls any gap is a way in for enemies.
Stock repair materials during the day so you can patch breaks as they happen at night.
Push toward 100 enemy kills across your run to unlock the Exterminator badge.

Teamwork and roles

Tips
In short Splitting jobs between teammates lets your group mine, build, and fight at the same time instead of taking turns.

Up to 30 players can share the same server. Playing with at least one friend earns the Squad Goals badge, and reviving a downed teammate earns the Lifesaver badge, so there is a real reward for watching each other's backs.

Tips worth knowing
  • Assign one or two players to mine all day so the builders never run out of material.
  • Have dedicated builders extend the island and reinforce walls while miners are working.
  • Put your best fighters on night-watch duty so they can focus entirely on holding the perimeter.
  • Revive teammates the moment they fall.

Common questions

FAQ

Can I reach day 100 playing solo?

Solo runs are possible, but you have to handle mining, building, and fighting all by yourself. Playing with friends lets you split those jobs. There are also badges tied specifically to teamwork that you cannot earn alone.

Where do building materials come from?

Every block on the map can be destroyed and collected as material. Mine constantly during the day and you will have what you need to build and repair. There is no separate crafting source — the blocks you break are the blocks you build with.

Does the danger actually increase as the days go on?

Yes, each night brings greater danger than the one before.
