How the game works

Summary
In short Your whole game loop is infecting enemies to grow your army, then using that army to earn points and unlock stronger effects.

You start as a lone infected player and build power by spreading your infection. Every helper you gain fights alongside you, so a bigger army means faster progress. Effects can be combined to make your army even stronger.

  • Infection touch NPCs or players to convert them into helpers who fight for you
  • Battle fight other players to earn points
  • Effects collect and combine them to enhance your army's strength
  • Quest complete the scientist's quest to earn the Quest Completo badge
  • Leaderboard reach the worldwide top 100 in any leaderboard to earn the Champion badge

Getting started

Step
In short Infecting NPCs first is the fastest way to get helpers without the pressure of fighting skilled players.

When you first load in, you have no helpers and no points. The quickest way to change that is to go after NPCs before you engage real players. Once you have a few helpers, you can start earning eliminations much more efficiently.

  1. Find an NPC approach it and infect it to create your first helper
  2. Repeat infections keep infecting NPCs to build a small army before picking fights
  3. Pick a fight with helpers backing you up, challenge other players to earn points
  4. Grab effects apply effects to your army and try different combinations to boost their strength
  5. Take the quest find the scientist and finish their quest to unlock Quest Completo

Infecting players vs. infecting NPCs

Table
In short Both sources of helpers have a role, so use NPCs to build a base and target players when you want stronger fighters.

NPCs and other players both become helpers when infected. Knowing the difference helps you decide who to target at each stage of a match.

NPCssafer to infect early, ideal for building your first group of helpers
Playersharder to infect, but they become stronger helpers once converted
Effectswork on both NPC and player helpers, so keep combining them regardless of your army's makeup

Elimination badges and how to reach them

Table
In short There are four elimination badges, and the only way to earn them is to keep racking up kills over many sessions.

Each badge requires a cumulative elimination total — these do not reset between sessions, so every match counts toward your next milestone.

Normally Brutal10

Using private servers

Tips
In short Private servers cost nothing and give you a controlled space to build your army at your own pace.

Private servers are free to create, and each room holds up to twelve players.

Tips worth knowing
  • Private servers are free — there is no cost to start one
  • The player cap is twelve, so plan your invites around that limit
