How a match works
StepEnemies come in waves, and their health goes up with each wave that passes. The last wave of every map always ends with a boss. You spend Gumdrops to place and level up your bears, so managing that currency well is just as important as where you put them.
- Watch for threats some enemies have special abilities like stunning your bears or recovering health, so deal with them quickly.
- Finish the boss at the final wave, sell any bears that have stopped attacking and reposition them at the boss's current location.

Map difficulty levels
TableMaps are sorted into six difficulty tiers plus event-only maps. Higher difficulties have tougher enemies and bosses with more health and special abilities.
| Difficulty | Maps |
|---|---|
| 1 | Picnic Falls, Lunar Grotto |
| 2 | Lighthouse Isle, Bookworm Library, Glucose Gallery |
| 3 | Ancient Dunes, Blossom Sauna |
| 4 | Skate N' Dine, Savory City, Swampwater Village |
| 5 | Cursed Embers, Kingdom of Whimsy |
| 6 | Velvet Trial 1, Velvet Trial 2 |
| Event only | Egg Hunt Garden, Summertime Shore, Halloween Carnival, Baker Street |
Starting out at Picnic Falls
TipsPicnic Falls is a Difficulty 1 forest map with 25 waves. The boss Neopaw arrives at wave 25. Because the map gives out fewer Gumdrops than harder stages, stick to bears that are cheap to level up.
- Use Cupcake, Pepper, and Sushi as your main bears — they are cost-efficient and work well here.
- Add Starfruit to the lineup — she is inexpensive and her ability generates extra Gumdrops per attack, which helps level everyone up faster.
- Add Mocha to help make sure all your bears reach level 5 before the match ends.
- Bring a sixth bear as a backup in case all your other bears are already maxed out.
- Avoid bears with high level-up costs like Candy Corn, Caviar, Flan, Gumball, Jam, Meringue, Pomegranate, Roquefort, and Waffle — Picnic Falls does not give enough Gumdrops to support them.
- Exercise caution with Bread Ducks, Mint Ladybugs, Pear Butterflies, and Yellow Pear Butterflies, as these enemies can cause you to lose the match if left unattended.
- When Neopaw appears at wave 25, sell any bear that is no longer attacking and place it at Neopaw's current position.

Pepper — the first bear to know
TipsPepper is one of the starter bears and has been in the game since launch. He is a melee attacker with short range, so placement and support matter a lot. His damage doubles with each level, but his cooldown also increases, so pairing him with the right bears is key.
- Place multiple level 1 Peppers at the start of the track early on to handle weak enemies while you save Gumdrops.
- Switch Pepper's targeting to Strong at higher levels so he focuses on the toughest enemies in range.
- Pair Pepper with Bacon to extend his range, letting him hit enemies earlier and for longer stretches of the path.
- Pair Pepper with Matcha to reduce his cooldown — at max level with Matcha, he can deal over 200 damage per hit.
- Adding Jam to the lineup is also useful because Jam's stuns let Pepper get extra hits in before an enemy moves out of his short range.
- Placing Peppers along one side of the track works best against normal enemies; putting two on each side is better when a boss is active.
Quests and currencies
SummaryQuests refresh and give different objectives each time. You must win a match for any quest progress to count. Normal quests pay out Sugar Cubes and XP, while Mega quests also reward Honey.
