Uma Racing is a fan-made Roblox racing game based on the Umamusume: Pretty Derby anime series. You pick a character, race against other players, and use abilities and quick-time events to get ahead. This guide covers controls, characters, abilities, quests, and codes so you can start winning races faster.
In shortKnowing both sprint options on PC and the gamepad layout on console is the foundation of racing well.
Sprinting is the most important thing to get right. On PC there are two ways to do it, and on console the buttons are spread across the triggers and bumpers. Every other action — spurt, ability, zone — has its own dedicated button on both platforms.
PC sprint option 1
tap Q and E alternately, or click left and right mouse buttons alternately
PC sprint option 2
hold Shift and W, then tap Shift repeatedly to build more speed
PC spurt
R
PC ability
F
PC zone
G
Console run / sprint
LT (Xbox) or L2 (PS), spurt on LB or L1, ability on RB or R1, zone on right D-pad
In shortHitting all five starting QTEs gives you a clean launch with no delay, while corner QTEs can be timed more freely.
Five QTEs fire just before a race begins. On keyboard, each asks you to press Q, E, R, or F; on gamepad, you use LB, LT, RB, RT or L1, L2, R1, R2. How many you hit decides your starting position penalty. Corner QTEs work differently — a small bar rotates around a circle, and you press the indicated key when it enters the marked zone, so you can pick your moment.
Hit all fiveGreat result, no delay at all
Hit threeGood result, small delay
Hit twoNormal result, moderate delay
Hit oneBad result, hefty delay
Hit noneAwful result, you cannot accelerate for a short time
Corner QTEsthree per corner, much more timing flexibility than the start

In shortYour choice of running style shapes how you race from start to finish.
Every uma belongs to one of three running styles. New umas can be bought in the shop for 250 to 500 coins. Drawing one from the gacha depends on rarity, with Legendary pulls coming in at a 1% chance.
Tips worth knowing
Front Runner umas aim to lead from the front — Silence Suzuka is the Legendary in this style.
Pace Chaser umas sit in the middle of the pack — most Legendary umas, including Rice Shower, Tokai Teio, Oguri Cap, and Neo Universe, run this style.
Late Surger umas drop back early then chase down the leaders with abilities and zone — Haru Urara, Gold Ship, and T.M. Opera O are in this group.
After the Update 1.5 rebalance, Front Runners received a speed increase, Pace Chasers got a slight stamina nerf, and Late Surgers were slowed so they fall back naturally before surging.
Some umas have QTE sequences built into their abilities — Super Creek's zone has seven QTEs that must all pass, while Yaeno Muteki's zone turns the QTEs into a two-player competition.

Abilities and zones
Tips
In shortEach uma gets one regular ability and one zone ability per race.
Regular abilities sit in the small square above the bottom bar and can be used any time it is visible. Zone abilities charge gradually on their own and sometimes faster through in-race actions; the charge bar sits at the bottom of the screen. Neither can be used more than once per race.
Tips worth knowing
Regular ability trigger — F on keyboard, RB on Xbox, R1 on PlayStation
Zone trigger — G on keyboard, right D-pad on either gamepad
Activation limit — one regular ability use and one zone use per race per uma
Some umas have a passive second ability instead of a second active one
06
Neo Universe — the current Legendary
Warn
In shortNeo Universe is a limited Pace Chaser with powerful debuff tools, but she leaves the banner rotation after the next update.
Neo Universe was added in Update 1.5, released on June 27, 2026. She is a Legendary Pace Chaser with three skills. Her passive, Luminescence, gives her 1.5 seconds of invincibility frames on spurt and removes stamina drain during that window. Her regular ability, Sea of Stars, opens with 2 seconds of iframes and an acceleration boost, then flashes blue — reacting within 0.4 seconds upgrades the boost and extends iframes to 3 seconds, but mistiming it drains your stamina. Her zone, Ad Astra, creates a trail for 5 seconds that blinds, confuses, and slows any racer caught between 18 and 95 studs of it, while feeding Neo Universe stamina and extra iframes for every second an opponent stays in it.
Worth watching out for
She is on a limited banner and will be removed from the shop when the next update arrives.
Only one Neo Universe can activate the Ad Astra trail every 10 seconds in a race.
Missing the Sea of Stars reaction window punishes you with stamina drain for 0.2 seconds.
In shortQuests give you coins for completing in-race tasks, with harder weekly quests paying out more.
Quests were added in Update 1.4 and reward coins for completing in-race tasks such as winning, finishing in certain positions, or playing for set amounts of time. Harder quests are grouped under a weekly tab and take longer to complete, but the coin payout is larger to match.
Tips worth knowing
Harder quests that require finishing in specific positions pay more than basic play-time quests.
Weekly quests take more effort but offer a bigger payout.
A third events tab exists in the quest menu but is currently locked.

Common questions
FAQ
Do I really have to join the Roblox community before using codes?
Yes — membership in the Uma Racing Roblox community is a hard requirement before any code will redeem.
What happens if I miss the Sea of Stars reaction window on Neo Universe?
Pressing too early or too late drains your stamina for 0.2 seconds instead of giving the upgraded boost. React within the 0.4-second window after the blue flash.
What does the banner shop reset timer mean?
The shop rotates three randomly selected banners from all available ones, and that selection changes every six hours. You can also refresh it early by spending Tickets or Robux.
