How rolling and attacks work

Summary
In short Every attack you use is decided by a roll, and rarer attacks are more powerful but much harder to land.

When you roll, the game picks one of 30 attacks at random. Darkness is the most powerful attack in the game and has a 1 in 4,000 chance of appearing.

  • Punch 1 in 3 chance
  • Wither 1 in 35 chance
  • Randomizer 1 in 75 chance
  • Metal 1 in 100 chance
  • Celestial 1 in 625 chance
  • Darkness 1 in 4,000 chance

Attacks to watch out for

Warn
In short Two attacks in particular can hurt you as much as your opponent if you are not careful.

Most attacks target your enemy, but a couple can backfire on you.

Worth watching out for
Wither has a time limit built into its effect if you do not defeat your opponent before the effect runs out, you die instead.
Randomizer can cause you to explode, taking yourself out.
03

Attacks you have to unlock

Step
In short Metal and Darkness are not available from the start — you earn each one by meeting a specific in-game condition.

Two attacks sit behind unlock conditions tied to in-game badges.

  1. Unlock Metal Summon the Altar of Metal and collect the gift it offers. Doing this earns the Altar of Metal badge and adds Metal to your possible rolls.
  2. Unlock Darkness Obtain the Light attack through a normal roll, then get pulled into Darkness's realm while you have Light active. This triggers the Not so Light Anymore badge and unlocks Darkness.
04

Quest difficulty tiers

Check
In short There are four quest difficulties, and clearing each one for the first time earns its own badge.

Quests give you structured goals on top of the normal arena fighting. Each difficulty tier — Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme — rewards a badge the first time you complete it.

  • Completed an Easy quest at least once
  • Completed a Medium quest at least once
  • Completed a Hard quest at least once
  • Completed an Extreme quest for the final quest badge
05

Building up your roll count

Tips
In short Roll count milestones are tracked automatically, so badges stack up just by playing.

Every roll you make is counted, and the game awards badges at major milestones.

Tips worth knowing
  • Reaching 100 rolls is the first milestone.
  • 1,000 rolls marks early progress.
  • 10,000 rolls signals that you have put serious time into the game.
  • 1,000,000 rolls is the highest milestone — the game's own badge description calls it insane.
06

Things to know before you play

Warn
In short One accessibility note and one game-history change are worth knowing before you jump in.

RNG Arena's original creator, NerdBurg, lost access to his accounts in a hacking incident on July 1, 2026, and has since moved to a different platform under the studio name Illusionary Studios. The game is now owned by the RNGArena account. The game also contains flashing light effects.

Worth watching out for
The game includes flashing lights if you are sensitive to that, take note before starting.
The hacking incident on July 1, 2026 changed who owns the game, but the game itself continues to run under the RNGArena account.

Common questions

FAQ

How do I unlock the Darkness attack?

You need to have the Light attack active when you get pulled into Darkness's realm. That triggers the Not so Light Anymore badge and adds Darkness to your possible rolls.

What happens if Wither's timer runs out?

If you are under Wither's effect and you have not killed your opponent before the effect ends, you die.

Is the game still being updated?

The original creator, NerdBurg, lost his accounts in a hacking incident on July 1, 2026, and is now making games elsewhere under Illusionary Studios. The game currently runs under the RNGArena account, and a placeholder badge in the game hints at an upcoming update.

Can I get the Jollyman unlock at any time?

No — Jollyman is only unlockable during the Christmas Event. Outside of that event window, the badge and the unlock are not available.
