About

Overview

Build A Barrier! is a two-player board game where up to 22 people can be in one room at a time. You shrink to half your size, step onto the board, and race to reach the far side before your opponent does — all while dropping walls to slow them down and keeping yourself from getting boxed in.

How a match works

Summary
In short The first player to reach the opposite side of the arena wins, but walls can flip the race in either direction.

When you step onto the board, your character shrinks to half its normal size. From there, both players race across the arena to reach the other side. You can drop walls anywhere along the way to trap your opponent, force them to change direction, or slow them down — but one badly placed wall can close off your own path just as easily.

  • Goal reach the far side of the arena before your opponent does
  • Walls drop them to block, redirect, or delay your opponent
  • Losing condition let your opponent wall you in completely
  • Room size up to 22 players can be in one server at a time

Common wall mistakes to avoid

Warn
In short Walls are just as dangerous to you as they are to your opponent if you place them carelessly.

Every wall you drop changes the board for both players, not just your opponent.

Worth watching out for
Stacking too many walls behind yourself cuts off your retreat and traps you instead of your opponent
Placing a wall without checking your own remaining paths is the single quickest way to lose

Getting the most out of walls

Tips
In short Smart wall placement is about making your opponent take a longer path, not necessarily stopping them cold.

Forcing a long detour is more reliable than attempting a full block. The moment your opponent has to turn around, you gain ground on the race to the far side.

Tips worth knowing
  • Narrow your opponent's options to one direction before you commit a wall — it makes the drop much harder to escape
  • Forcing a detour is a more practical goal than a complete surround
  • When your opponent has to change direction, use that moment to sprint ahead and extend your lead
  • Treat walls as tools for both attack and defense — they protect your path just as much as they disrupt theirs

Wins, badges, and unlocks

Step
In short Stacking wins is the only way to unlock new wall cosmetics and reactions.

Every win counts toward four badges, and winning also unlocks cosmetics that change how your walls look plus reactions you can use in matches.

  1. Five wins earns your first badge
  2. Ten wins earns the second badge
  3. Fifty wins earns the third badge
  4. One hundred wins earns the fourth and final badge
