About

Overview

Ball VS Ball is a one-on-one (and two-on-two) Roblox battle game where you pick from three random balls each round and try to out-read your opponent. Combat runs automatically, so winning comes down to choosing the right ball and aiming it well. This guide walks you through your first match, how to pick and counter balls, and how to grow your collection without spending Robux.

Your first five minutes

Step
In short Finishing your very first match, win or lose, unlocks a free ball gacha.

When you enter the lobby, walk onto the platform marked '1/2 PLAYERS' to join a one-on-one match. If no opponent shows up, use the invite button to bring in a friend. During that first match, focus on understanding the three main screens: ball selection, aim adjustment, and the heart display that tracks health. Stay until the result screen — leaving early means you miss the free gacha that drops after your first complete match.

  1. Step onto the platform find the '1/2 PLAYERS' stand in the lobby and stand on it.
  2. Wait or invite if the queue is empty, use the invite button to call a friend.
  3. Watch the three screens track ball selection, aim adjustment, and the heart display.
  4. Stay to the end do not leave early; the free gacha only appears after the result screen.
  5. Check your inventory after claiming the gacha, open the ball tab to confirm it arrived.

How a match flows

Summary
In short Each round gives you 30 seconds to pick a ball and another 30 seconds to lock your aim, then the fight plays out on its own.

A match is made up of several short rounds. Each round you win takes a heart from your opponent, and the first player to run out of hearts loses. At the start of every round, three balls appear at random and you have 30 seconds to choose one. After that, an aim screen gives you another 30 seconds to point your arrow at your opponent's ball and press Lock Aim. Once you confirm, the ball moves and attacks by itself. Use the time while combat plays out to watch what your opponent chose and how the abilities interacted.

  • Ball selection three random candidates, 30 seconds to pick one.
  • Aim screen point the arrow at your opponent's ball and press Lock Aim, with up to 30 seconds to do so.
  • Automatic combat the ball fights on its own after aim is locked.
  • Round result the loser of each round loses a heart.
  • Match end the player whose hearts reach zero first loses the match.

Reading your opponent before you pick

Tips
In short Checking your opponent's ball before committing to a choice is the single most important habit in this game.

The selection screen shows your opponent's ball on the field before you pick. Use that information. A high-rarity ball that clashes with your opponent's ability will lose to a low-rarity ball that matches up well. Read the short ability description for each of your three candidates, compare it to what your opponent has, and then decide. Confirm with a few seconds to spare — waiting until the last moment raises the chance of a mis-tap.

Tips worth knowing
  • Look at your opponent's ball first, before touching any of your three candidates.
  • Read the ability text on each candidate, not just the rarity indicator.
  • Pick the candidate whose ability matches up well against what you see on the field.
  • Confirm your choice with a few seconds left on the clock, not at the last moment.
05

Three ball types to learn first

Table
In short Knowing the burst, vampire, and machine-gun types lets you make faster decisions when an unfamiliar ball appears.

The roster has over 40 balls, but almost every one fits into a handful of ability patterns. When a ball you do not recognize shows up, check whether its ability description sounds like a short-range charger, a life-stealing close fighter, or a ranged shooter. That alone narrows down how to use it or counter it.

Burst ballrushes the opponent and deals heavy damage up close.
Vampire ballstays near the opponent, drains health, and heals itself.
Machine-gun ballshoots at the nearest enemy from a distance, keeping charge-type balls away.
06

Ball matchups worth remembering

Check
In short These pairings are a starting reference, not a guaranteed win table, so treat them as a guide and update them with your own results.

Because selection is random, you will not always get your ideal counter. Use these matchups to quickly narrow down your best option from whatever three candidates appear. If none of the three looks useful against your opponent, rerolling or the pick-any-ball option become worth considering.

  • Opponent uses a Beam Ball try a Machine-gun Ball.
  • Opponent uses a Machine-gun Ball try a Spider Ball.
  • Opponent uses a Cannon Ball try a Vampire Ball.
  • Opponent uses an Axe or Poison-spike type try a Burst Ball.
  • None of your three candidates match up well consider rerolling or using your free pick-any-ball.

Watching other matches in the lobby

Tips
In short Spectating is a low-effort way to learn ball combinations you have never faced yourself.

The lobby lets you watch other players' matches while you wait. Focus on three things: which two balls are fighting, how the winner aimed at the start, and which ball came out on top.

Tips worth knowing
  • Note the two ball types fighting — this tells you which combinations actually appear in matches.
  • Track the winner — if the same ball wins a combination repeatedly, factor that into your selections.
09

When to reroll and when to hold

Warn
In short Reroll only when all three candidates put you at a clear disadvantage — burning a reroll on a winnable hand wastes it.

Rerolling swaps your current ball or the selection pool for a different random ball. It exists for situations where your candidates cannot reach or damage your opponent effectively. Low rarity is not a reason to reroll on its own; a well-matched lower-rarity ball beats an unfamiliar high-rarity one. Before pressing reroll, read the current candidates carefully. If one of them lines up against your opponent, use it — or use your free pick-any-ball option instead.

Worth watching out for
Your attacks cannot reach the opponent and you are taking damage with no response.
All three candidates are at a clear ability disadvantage against what the opponent has.
You already have a candidate that matches up well hold it and do not reroll.
You want to change only because of rarity that is not a good reason to reroll.
10

Collecting coins and spending them well

Step
In short Check daily quests before each session, and win battles to grow your ball collection for free.

Each battle victory pays out 100 coins. Daily quests add more: tasks like playing a match with a friend, winning three times, or playing ten rounds each carry a 100-coin reward. Coins go furthest early on when you spend them on new ball types rather than cosmetic effects.

  1. Check daily quests first look at the quest board before queuing so you know which goals to aim for.
  2. Win matches each victory adds 100 coins directly.
  3. Invite friends if the queue is empty, use the invite button to call a friend and keep matches flowing.
  4. Spend on new ball types prioritize unlocking balls with different abilities over cosmetic animations.
11

Free gachas and how to claim them

Check
In short Three separate free gachas are available, and each one has its own condition you have to meet before it appears.

The first gacha drops after completing your very first match — you do not need to win, just reach the result screen. A higher-tier gacha is available when you both like the game page and join the ATYS 3 group; both actions must be completed before the reward triggers. A third gacha goes to both you and any new player you invite through the invite button. If a reward does not appear after you meet the conditions, check that you have done both halves of the requirement, then re-enter the server.

  • First match completion finish any match to its result screen, win or lose.
  • Like the game page and join the ATYS 3 group both must be done to receive the higher-tier gacha.
  • Invite a new player both you and the invited player receive a bonus gacha.
  • If the reward does not appear confirm you completed both conditions, then rejoin the server.
12

Inventory, the shop, and the fusion system

Tips
In short Use the shop to widen your ball variety, check the inventory to track what you own, and save fusion for after you have built a solid collection.

The inventory is split into four tabs: balls, explosion effects, flight effects, and fusion. The shop is where you spend coins to unlock new balls. Fusion lets you combine duplicate balls into skins, but it consumes the balls used as material.

Tips worth knowing
  • Aim for variety in the shop, not depth — one ball of each ability type beats five of the same kind.
  • Newly unlocked balls enter the random selection pool, so be patient if one does not appear right away.
  • Check the inventory ball tab to confirm a gacha or shop purchase registered correctly.
  • Before fusing, read the required material count and verify you will not lose your last usable copy.
  • Hold off on fusion in the early game — a wider active roster is more valuable than skins at the start.
13

Mistakes that cost rounds

Warn
In short The three most common errors are picking without looking at the opponent, stalling on Lock Aim, and rerolling a winnable hand.

Most lost rounds trace back to one of a few repeated habits.

Worth watching out for
Picking immediately without checking the opponent's ball first.
Waiting until the final second to press Lock Aim, which invites mis-taps.
Choosing by rarity alone rather than reading the ability description.
Rerolling when you already have a well-matched candidate in your three options.
Skipping the daily quest board and missing completed rewards at the end of a session.
Spending early coins on explosion or flight effects instead of unlocking more ball types.

Common questions

FAQ

What should I do in my very first session?

Step onto the 1/2 PLAYERS platform in the lobby and play a match all the way to the result screen — you do not need to win. After that, like the game page and join the ATYS 3 group to collect the higher-tier free gacha. Then check the daily quest board before queuing again so you can earn bonus coins while you play.

Can I collect all the balls without spending Robux?

Winning battles earns 100 coins each, daily quests add more, and free gachas from completing your first match, liking the page, joining the group, and inviting friends all give additional balls. Trading duplicates with other players is another way to fill gaps in your collection. There is a clear free path to expanding your roster.

Can I play solo, or do I need a friend?

You can enter the lobby alone and join the one-on-one queue by yourself. A match still requires one other player, though, so if no one joins you can use the invite button to bring in a friend or try a different server.

When should I use the pick-any-ball option instead of rerolling?

The pick-any-ball option lets you choose a specific ball from your collection and is free once per match.
