Derelict is an open-world action RPG set in a fractured dystopian world where past and future collide, drawing on Soulslike combat and MMO progression systems. This guide covers the basics of getting started, surviving combat, using sorcery, and working through the game's named bosses and questlines.
In shortGetting your setup right before you start saves a lot of early frustration.
Derelict is still in active development, so some features are rougher than others depending on how you play. The game recommends at least 3 GB of dedicated RAM for stable performance, and keyboard and mouse for the best experience. Mobile and controller support exist but are still in early development, so expect rough edges if you use them.
Check that your device has at least 3 GB of dedicated RAM before launching
Set up a keyboard and mouse if at all possiblethis is the recommended control method
If you are on controller and inputs stop responding, switching to keyboard and mouse is the reliable fix
In shortEvery decision you make about your character shapes how you fight and survive.
Derelict gives you a wide range of classes, attributes, modifiers, and upgrades to shape your playstyle. The game is designed so that wrong choices carry real consequences, so it is worth thinking about what role you want to fill before you commit.
Class sets the foundation of your combat style and available options
Attributes the underlying numbers that govern your combat effectiveness and survival
Modifiers adjustments that fine-tune how your character performs in specific situations
Upgrades improvements you unlock over time that push your build further
03Live and upcoming eventsEvents
Events running now or coming soon. They have fixed dates, so check them first.
In shortThe world is built to punish mistakes, so patience and observation matter more than aggression early on.
Derelict borrows its difficulty philosophy from Soulslike games, meaning enemies can drop you fast if you charge in without a plan.
Tips worth knowing
Look for the first Bonsai warp point as early as you can — activating it gives you a safe travel option
Talk to every NPC you come across; questlines from characters like Gideon, Percival, Baldwin, and Lorik Ironheart are a major part of progression
05
Combat basics and sorcery
Step
In shortMixing weapon attacks with sorcery and reading enemy patterns is how you win fights consistently.
Sorcery is not a side feature — it is one of your main damage tools.
Watch the enemy firstspend a few attempts just observing attack patterns before committing
Revisit your gearif a fight feels impossible, check whether stronger weapons or armor are sitting in your inventory unused
06
Named bosses and questlines
Tips
In shortThe game's main progression runs through a series of named bosses and NPC questlines, each with its own challenge.
Derelict tracks your progress through official achievements tied to specific encounters. Finishing questlines and defeating bosses are the two main ways you move through the game's content.
Tips worth knowing
Complete Gideon's questline to earn the Favors Exchanged milestone
Complete Percival's questline to earn Keeping the Flame Lit
Complete Baldwin's questline for True Eggcellence, and Lorik Ironheart's for Shell of a Man

Common questions
FAQ
My controller inputs are laggy or not working. What should I do?
Controller support is still in early development, so input problems are a known issue rather than something you can easily fix on your end. Switching to keyboard and mouse is the most reliable solution right now.
How many sorceries can I use?
Currently the game has one sorcery slot available. A second sorcery slot has not been added yet.
