Getting started with your dog character
StepWhen you first load in, the game brings up a character customization screen before it drops you into the world. Take your time here — you can set your fur color and accessories before you start exploring. Once you are in the open world, there is no single correct path to follow, so just start walking and see what you find.
- Open the customization screen adjust fur color and accessories until your dog looks the way you want.
- Step into the open world the map is large, so walk around the starting area to get a feel for the layout.

How to explore the open world
TipsThe world has no single road to follow. Mysteries and challenges are scattered throughout, so the natural rhythm is to walk wherever looks interesting and see what triggers. If a challenge feels too hard right now, leave it and come back after you have explored other areas.
- Do not feel locked into one area; leaving and returning later is a totally valid strategy.
- Up to 55 players share a server, so busy areas are a good sign that something interesting is nearby.
Limited-time events and how to finish them
CheckCanine Odyssey has run seasonal events in the past, including Easter egg hunts in both 2024 and 2025. Each event has its own tasks, and clearing them earns badges that stay on your profile permanently. Check the in-game announcements whenever you log in so you do not miss an active event.
- Check in-game announcements to see if an event is running.
- Collect every hidden egg on the map during an egg hunt finishing the full set earns a badge and a special reward.
- Complete the Easter Egg Obby (the obstacle course) all the way to the end to receive the Final Egg.
Playing with friends
TipsBecause the world is open and large, it is easy to drift to opposite ends of the map. From there, exploring together and sharing discoveries is the core of what makes the game enjoyable with others.
- Use chat to call out interesting locations as you find them so the group can head over together.
- During an egg hunt, share egg locations with other players to cover the map faster.
- Roleplay as dogs with your friends; the game is built for it.

Common questions
FAQCan I play Canine Odyssey alone?
Yes. The open world works perfectly well solo — you can explore at your own pace, find mysteries, and take on challenges without needing a group.
Is there a main goal or story to finish?
There is no single finish line. The game is built around exploring freely, discovering quests and mysteries as you wander, and enjoying the roleplay.
How do I know when an event is happening?
Check the in-game announcements each time you log in. Past events like the Easter egg hunts were time-limited, so acting quickly once you see an announcement is the best approach — event badges cannot be earned after the window closes.
