How the game works

Summary
In short The player who covers the most tiles with their color wins the match.

Every player on the board is trying to paint tiles in their own color at the same time. You win by holding more of the board than anyone else when the match ends. Winning unlocks skins and power-ups that you can bring into future matches.

  • Goal cover more tiles than any rival
  • Format multiple players compete on the same board simultaneously
  • Reward wins unlock skins, power-ups, and cosmetics

Getting started

Step

The game includes a tutorial that walks you through the basic controls and tile-painting rules. Once you understand those, set up your look before you enter a real match — it takes only a moment and makes the game feel more personal from the start.

  1. Play the tutorial work through it fully so you understand how tile claiming and movement work.
  2. Customize your character equip any skins, trails, or pets you have already unlocked.
  3. Enter a match once you feel comfortable with the controls, jump into a live game.

Expanding your territory in the early game

Tips
In short Start from the center and build a connected block of tiles rather than spreading out randomly.

The opening of a match is the window when rivals are still scattered. Use that time to build a solid, connected base. Isolated tiles are easy for enemies to cut off, so keep your territory in one joined piece and grow it outward from there.

Tips worth knowing
  • Start near the center of the board — it gives you more directions to expand and is harder to pin down.
  • Grow outward gradually instead of jumping to distant corners where you can get surrounded.
  • Keep your tiles connected — a joined territory is much harder for rivals to break apart than scattered ones.
  • Watch where strong opponents are moving so you can avoid running into them early.
05

Checklist when you keep losing

Check
In short Most losing streaks come down to position, disconnected tiles, or slow reactions — run through this list between matches.

Before blaming luck, check each of these points. Fixing even one of them can turn a losing session around.

  • Are you surrounded? If multiple enemies are closing in from every side, check whether you have room to maneuver.
  • Is your territory connected? Scattered tiles are easy pickings merge them into one solid block.
  • Are you moving fast enough? Hesitating on tile selection lets rivals claim ground first.
  • Are you missing available power-ups? Check whether a power-up is ready to use during the match.

Cosmetics you can unlock

Tips
In short Trails, patterns, pets, and effects are all purely visual and do not affect how the game plays.

Color Game lets you personalize your look with several types of cosmetics. None of them change your speed, tile-claiming power, or anything that affects the match outcome. Collecting them gives you a long-term goal to work toward beyond just winning.

Tips worth knowing
  • Trails customize the color streak you leave as you move across the board.
  • Patterns change how your color looks when it fills a tile.
  • Pets appear alongside you during a match as a visual companion.
  • Effects add flashy visuals to your character.
  • Playing and winning is how you unlock more of these cosmetics over time.
07

Climbing the leaderboard

Tips
In short Consistent wins over many matches matter more than a single lucky game.

The leaderboard rewards players who win repeatedly, not just occasionally. Building that record means adapting your strategy to each match rather than repeating the same approach every time.

Tips worth knowing
  • Aim for steady wins across many matches rather than gambling on one big performance.
  • Change your approach based on where rivals are positioned — a fixed routine is easy for experienced players to read.

Common questions

FAQ

Do the cosmetics like pets and trails give me any advantage?

No — trails, patterns, pets, and effects are purely visual. They change how your character looks but have no effect on tile speed, power-ups, or anything else that influences the outcome of a match. You can collect them freely without worrying about balance.

Can I play without spending any money?

Yes — matches, leaderboard competition, and cosmetic unlocks are all available through regular play at no cost. Winning earns you cosmetics over time, so there is nothing that forces you to spend. If you ever do consider spending, talk it over with a parent or guardian first.
