First steps in the Grass Layer

Step
In short Learning the fuel-explore-sell-upgrade loop in the Grass Layer gives you everything you need for every layer that follows.

Every run starts in the Grass Layer. Before you dig anywhere, load fuel — coal ore works — into your vehicle's furnace. Without fuel the drill stops dead. Once you are moving, your job is to collect materials and combat drops, then convert them to coins at a checkpoint sell station before spending on upgrades.

  1. Load fuel put coal or other fuel items into the vehicle's furnace before you start drilling.
  2. Explore work through the dungeon area, collecting materials, finishing fights, and grabbing any chests you find.
  3. Bag your loot aim your cursor at an item and press F to store it in your bag so it does not fall off the vehicle while you move.
  4. Sell at the checkpoint unequip all tools so your hands are empty, then left-click and drag items to the sell spot to receive coins.
  5. Upgrade spend coins on drill power first, then handle any other weak spots before heading deeper.

Layer order and overall goal

Summary
In short Reaching the core is the main milestone, but the game continues past it for players willing to keep going.

There are named layers to push through in order. The deeper you go, the harder the enemies get. Reaching the core once finishes the main journey, but returning ten times unlocks the Veteran badge, and going even further unlocks the Heart of Earth badge.

  • Grass Layer starting area for learning controls and the fuel loop.
  • Dirt, Stone, Clay, Fossil, Crystal Layers the mid-game sequence, cleared one after another.
  • Toxic and Frozen Layers tougher enemies in these layers.
  • The Abyss and The Void the two final layers before the core itself.
  • The Core one clear ends the main run; ten clears earns the Veteran badge.
  • Heart of Earth a destination beyond the core for players who keep digging.

Controls worth knowing

Upgrade priorities

Tips
In short Check drill power first whenever progress stalls — it solves more problems than any other upgrade.

Coins from selling and cores from badge rewards are two separate currencies. Coins buy most upgrades in the field; cores unlock classes at the lobby facility. Never spend them interchangeably.

Tips worth knowing
  • If you are stuck in front of a wall, check drill power before anything else.
  • If enemies are killing you before walls are the problem, look at armor and healing supplies first.
  • If your bag fills up too fast, clear out unwanted items; only consider a bag capacity upgrade if sorting alone does not help.
  • Upgrade movement speed only after drill power and combat readiness are in good shape.
  • Keep some coins in reserve rather than spending everything — unexpected problems show up between checkpoints.
06

Dungeon and boss tactics

Warn
In short Rushing the boss room without scouting the approach first wastes fuel and leaves you under-resourced.

Each dungeon has an exploration area before the boss room. Work through it fully to stock up on fuel and sellable materials. When you reach the boss room, clear the regular enemies in the group before turning your attention to the boss itself.

Worth watching out for
Search the approach area before entering the boss room fuel and materials there are easy to miss if you rush.
Take out the smaller enemies in a boss room first so the boss does not have backup during the fight.
Some chests are Mimics enemies disguised as treasure. Any chest with visible eyes or teeth is a Mimic; treat it like a monster, not a reward.
After a fight, check your bag space and collect any remaining chests before returning to your vehicle.

Classes and currency

Table
In short Pick a class based on the role you want to fill, not on whichever one you spot first.

Classes are chosen at the class facility in the lobby and affect your starting equipment and speciality. Check the description of each class before spending cores.

Miner classsuited to players who want to focus on mining support.
Driller classsuited to players who want to reduce the cost of drill upgrades.
High-cost classesbetter considered after you know the game's basics, not as a first target.
Coinsearned by selling loot, used for in-run upgrades.
Coresa separate currency, earned through badge rewards, used to unlock classes.
09

Playing with others and badge milestones

Tips
In short Several badges reward natural play and give you cores as a side effect, so do not ignore the badge list.

Joining a session with a friend earns the Power of Friendship badge. Deaths are built into the game's badge progression too, so being knocked out occasionally is expected rather than punished.

Tips worth knowing
  • Play at least one session with a friend to pick up the Power of Friendship badge.
  • Dying is fine — the First Death, Death Enthusiast, and Death Connoisseur badges are all awarded for it.
  • After earning any badge, check the Achievements menu to claim the reward.
  • Mining a coal ore node and an iron ore node each unlock their own badges, so keep an eye out for them as you drill.

Account safety

Warn
In short Keep your account details to yourself and only use official tools to play.

Nothing in Drill to Earth's Core requires you to share your password or click outside links.

Worth watching out for
Never give your password to another player, no matter what reason they give.
Cheat tools risk a permanent account ban.
Do not follow links sent by other players that lead outside Roblox.
If a purchase screen appears, check with a parent or guardian before confirming anything.

Common questions

FAQ

What is the main goal of the game?

Reaching the core is the primary milestone after clearing all the layers. Past the core, a further destination tied to the Heart of Earth badge awaits. Returning to the core ten times in total also unlocks the Veteran badge.

I pressed F but my item did not come out of the bag — why?

If your cursor is aimed at any object in the world when you press F, the game reads it as a store command rather than a retrieve command. Move your cursor away from everything so nothing is targeted, then press F.

A chest attacked me — is that a bug?

No, those are Mimics — enemies that disguise themselves as treasure chests. Any chest that has eyes or teeth is a Mimic. Treat it as a monster and fight it rather than walking up to open it.

Can I finish the game without spending real money?

Yes. Every upgrade material and coin comes from regular play. The only cost of a free-to-play approach is spending more time grinding each layer before moving on.

What should I do when enemies on a floor are too strong?

Head back to a shallower layer and keep farming there for experience and materials. Upgrade your drill and check your armor and healing supplies, then return to the harder floor once your numbers have improved.
