TROLL Hug Tower Guide: First steps when you join
About
OverviewTROLL Hug Tower is a chaotic PvP obby where up to 20 players race to the top of a tower while hugging, carrying, and throwing each other into the lava below. This guide covers how to climb reliably, how to use the hug mechanic, and how to avoid being thrown before you reach the top.

First steps when you join
StepWhen you load in, resist the urge to sprint for the first platform. Stand somewhere wide and check which way the lava is, where the broader platforms sit, and how other players are moving. Once you have that picture, you can pick a path with fewer people on it and start climbing with a plan.
- Learn the controls on PC use W/A/S/D to move and Space to jump; on mobile use the left stick to move and swipe right to rotate the camera.
- Observe first watch the flow of players, note the lava side, and spot the widest platforms before you take a single step.
- Keep a gap stay about one avatar-length behind whoever is ahead of you so a sudden stop does not put you in hug range.
- Wait out crowds if several players are bunched at a narrow section, letting them pass costs a few seconds but beats getting thrown.
- Skip paid items for now learn the course at default speed and jump power before thinking about game passes.

Climbing the tower reliably
TipsSmooth climbing is mostly about two habits: camera aim before the jump, and input discipline after landing. Getting both right makes the difference between a clean run and a frustrating loop back to the bottom.
- Point your camera at your landing spot before you jump, not while you are in the air.
- The moment you land, release your movement key or stick completely, then re-orient toward the next platform.
- On narrow paths, tap movement in short bursts rather than holding it down to fine-tune your position.
- After landing, move to the center of the platform or the wall side — never rest on the edge.
- Look for less-traveled routes along the sides; fewer players nearby means fewer chances of being hugged.
Choosing a playstyle — climber or troller
TableThere are two distinct ways to play this game, and splitting your focus between them in the same run tends to get you nowhere. Decide at the start of each round what you are going for, then commit to it.
| Climber | stay on quieter edge routes and advance one platform at a time with clean jumps. |
| Troller | find a wide platform, close the distance to another player, and wait for the HUG prompt before grabbing them. |
| Mixed run | climb to the upper section first, then throw from a position where a fall hurts the target more. |
| With friends | agree before the round whether everyone is climbing or everyone is trolling, so you are not working against each other. |
Avoiding the hug — positioning and awareness
CheckThe best defense against being thrown is never letting someone get close enough to grab you. Most of that comes down to where you stand and what you pay attention to.
- Keep at least one avatar-width between you and other players on any narrow platform.
- Never stand with your back to the lava side being grabbed from the front at least gives you a wall to aim toward.
- Glance behind you when you hear movement; spotting someone approaching early opens an escape option.
- Step away from crowded platforms the more players in one spot, the higher the chance of being grabbed by accident.
- If someone is catching up at a tight section, let them pass rather than stopping with your back to them.
- If the same player keeps targeting you, switch to a different public server.
Using the hug and throw mechanics
TipsThe hug mechanic is straightforward once you know its limits. The main trap players fall into is chasing someone across a narrow section and losing their footing in the process.
- Only attempt a hug from a wide platform where you are not about to jump.
- Wait for the HUG prompt to appear on screen before pressing the button — it confirms you are close enough.
- Face toward the lava before throwing so the toss actually sends the target down rather than onto another platform.
- While you are carrying someone you are also a target, so check that no one is sneaking up behind you.
- Do not repeatedly chase someone who is clearly not having fun; keep the trolling playful rather than personal.
When you are stuck or falling repeatedly
StepHitting a wall on the same platform over and over is usually a sign that something about your approach needs to change, not just your timing. Stop, watch, then try again with new information.
- Observe one pass wait and watch another player navigate the section before you attempt it again.
- Reduce load if movement feels sluggish or landing seems delayed, lower Roblox's graphics quality and close background apps.
- Try a different server heavy lag on narrow platforms turns a manageable jump into a fall, and switching servers often clears it.
- Reset, then rejoin if the HUG button never appears even near other players on open ground, re-entering the game usually fixes it.
Game passes — what to know before buying
WarnThe entire tower is accessible for free. Paid game passes such as the Speed Coil, Jump Coil, and Hammer are available, but you do not need them to reach the top or to use the hug mechanic. Get comfortable with the default movement first, identify what is actually holding you back, and only then look at what each pass offers inside the game's own purchase screen.

Common questions
FAQI keep getting thrown in the first few seconds. How do I survive longer?
Focus only on climbing for your first few rounds and keep your distance from other players. On narrow sections, stand toward the wall rather than the lava side and let faster players pass instead of stopping in their way.
Can I join the same server as a friend?
The easiest method is to join directly through your friend's profile while they are already in a session. There is no private server option, so you are relying on landing in the same public server, which works best when that server still has open slots. If you end up separated, both leave and re-enter together targeting a server with room for both of you.
The HUG button never shows up. What am I doing wrong?
Move to a wide, open area and walk up close to another player — the prompt only appears when you are within range on ground you can stand on steadily. If the button still does not appear after that, leave and rejoin the game.
My avatar looks different inside the game than it does everywhere else. Is something broken?
The game converts avatars to the R6 body type, so your proportions and animations will look different from your usual appearance. This is intentional and does not affect how the game plays.
Someone keeps chasing me and I am not having fun. What can I do?
Switch to a different public server — it is the fastest fix and immediately separates you from that player. If they said anything inappropriate in chat, use Roblox's built-in block and report tools before you leave.
