The three roles and what they do
TableInnocents make up the majority of players in any server — the exact number equals the total players minus two, since one slot goes to the Sheriff and one to the Murderer. Knowing what each role is trying to do helps you react to the other players correctly.
| Innocent | avoid the Murderer, collect coins, and survive until time runs out or the Murderer is stopped |
| Sheriff | the only player with a gun; find and shoot the Murderer without hitting an innocent by mistake |
| Murderer | eliminate everyone using a knife, including throwing it at range, before being shot |
| Hero | an Innocent who picks up the Sheriff's gun after the Sheriff dies |

Surviving longer — Innocent tips
TipsOnce you know the basics, a few specific habits will cut down the number of times you get caught off guard.
- If you hear a stabbing sound, peek carefully to spot the Murderer rather than running blind
- If you have a Radio item, do not use it during a round since the sound lets the Murderer track your position
- Pets can give away a hiding spot because of their size, so keep them out of tight areas
Events running now or coming soon. They have fixed dates, so check them first.
Playing Sheriff without losing your gun
WarnThe Sheriff is the only player who starts with a weapon. Keep your identity secret for as long as possible, because a Murderer who knows who the Sheriff is will target them early. If you leave the game mid-round, the gun spawns somewhere on the map rather than disappearing.
Level badges — the long-term goal
CheckMurder Mystery 2 has ten obtainable badges, each tied to reaching a specific level. Levels rise by earning experience through rounds, and the badges unlock in order as you hit each threshold. There are no badges for prestiging, so the visible milestone targets run from level 10 all the way to level 100.
- Reach level 10 to unlock the first badge
- Continue through levels 20, 30, 40, and 50 each awards its own badge along the way
- Push on through levels 60, 70, 80, and 90 as experience from rounds accumulates
- Hit level 100 to collect the final badge and complete the full badge set
Trading and rarity basics
SummaryWeapons in Murder Mystery 2 have eight rarity tiers. Crates opened with coins mostly produce Common and Uncommon items, but duplicates can be broken down at the Craft Station into materials used to build higher-rarity weapons. Before accepting or offering any trade, check community price sites so you know what things are actually worth.
- Common lowest tier, frequent from crates
- Uncommon still common from crates
- Rare above average, less frequent
- Legendary notably harder to obtain
- Godly the standard reference unit for trade values
- Chroma, Vintage, Ancient the three tiers above Godly, increasingly scarce
Trade scams to avoid
WarnThe trading community is active but scams do exist. The most important habit is reading the final confirmation screen carefully every single time — some scammers swap items at the last moment before you confirm.

Common questions
FAQWhat happens if the Sheriff shoots an Innocent by mistake?
Both the Sheriff and the Innocent die, and the gun drops on the ground where anyone can pick it up — including the Murderer.
Can you get rare weapons without spending Robux?
Yes. Open crates with coins earned from rounds, then take any duplicate weapons to the Craft Station to break them into materials. Those materials can be combined to craft higher-rarity weapons over time.
Where do new codes get announced?
The developer Nikilis posts new codes on their X (formerly Twitter) account and the game's official Discord server.
How do I earn level badges?
Play rounds and accumulate experience — you earn five experience points per second while alive, so a full three-minute round gives 900 XP. Badges unlock automatically when you reach levels 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100.
