The three roles and how they work
TableAt the start of each round, the three players with the highest Malice are automatically assigned as Teachers — you cannot volunteer. A fourth role, Alice, appears every fourth night and is only available to players who own the Alice gamepass and have hit 150 survivals and 500 kills.
| Student | survive six minutes, run from Teachers, earn Student Points |
| Teacher (Miss Bloomie, Miss Thavel, or Miss Circle) | hunt and kill Students; return to the office in the final 30 seconds or you lose your round points |
| Alice | attack both Students and Teachers; rack up kills before the three-minute window closes |
| Teachers | slower movement than Students but higher health and stamina |
| Students | faster on their feet but fragile and almost entirely defenseless without items |
Surviving the night as a Student
StepStudents respawn if killed, but dying means no rewards for that round. Spend the six-minute night running, hiding, solving classroom tests, and handling any Blackout events. When daytime arrives and the Teachers vanish, head to the Cafeteria shop to spend what you earned.
- Solve classroom tests pass tests in classrooms to earn Student Points
- Handle Blackouts when the school goes dark, find a room with a yellow door marked with an electrical warning sign and start the generator; Teachers gain night vision during a Blackout and can hear the generator charging, so check the area is clear first
- Use the block (Q key) pressing Q puts you in a brief block stance that cuts incoming damage by 50% and stuns the attacker; a successful block also restores 20% of your stamina
- Know what you cannot block Miss Thavel's Pounce, Miss Bloomie's razor-blade shots, and all of Miss Circle's attacks while she is in Failure mode go straight through your block
- Shop during the day take your Student Points to Miss Sasha and Mister Demi in the Cafeteria and buy items before the next night starts
- Track your Delta Shards shards earned from quests and objectives go to the Skins Shop, not the item shop; they are separate currencies
Item shop — what to buy and what it costs
TableEverything except the Flashlight is sold by Miss Sasha and Mister Demi in the Cafeteria. Prices are in Student Points.
| Item | Buy price (Student Points) | Sell price (Student Points) | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bat | 450 | 250 | Strike a Teacher; blocks 75% of incoming damage when used to block |
| Pool Floatie | 50 | 25 | Blocks 100% of incoming damage with a longer stun on the attacker |
| Polaroid Camera | 300 | 150 | Blinds Teachers briefly with a flash |
| Health Potion | — | — | Restores 40 HP when consumed |
| Oreo Bar | — | — | Gives a burst of energy when consumed |
| Watch | 20 | 10 | Tells the time |
Blocking — timing and limits
TipsThe block window is extremely short and the cooldown is four seconds. Blocking does not slow your movement, so you can block and immediately sprint away.
- Press Q the moment an attack is about to land — the window closes very fast
- After a successful block you are not slowed, so turn and run straight away
- A Bat in your hand raises your block damage reduction from 50% to 75%
- A Pool Floatie in your hand makes a successful block absorb all damage and stuns the attacker for longer
- Miss Circle's M1 has a visible windup, making it one of the easier attacks to time a block against
- Miss Thavel's M1 hits quickly in succession — if you land a block on her first hit and she is still close, block again immediately
Quest system and Delta Shards
StepThe quest board sits in the Safe Room alongside Zip, Edward, and Oliver. Quests rotate on a three-hour timer. Since October 10, 2026, rewards are paid out automatically when you finish a quest — no need to return to the board and click Claim. Star Student gamepass holders earn extra shards on every quest.
- Check the board find the current quests in the Safe Room at the start of each session
- Complete Easy quests (Zip) earn 50 Delta Shards each (60 with Star Student); tasks include things like blocking a Teacher once, playing two rounds, or throwing a book at a Teacher
- Complete Intermediate quests (Edward) earn 75 Delta Shards each (90 with Star Student); tasks include hitting a headshot as Miss Bloomie or photographing every Teacher in one Polaroid Camera use
- Complete Hard quests (Oliver) earn 100 Delta Shards each (120 with Star Student); tasks include surviving an entire round without taking any damage or landing eight headshots as Miss Bloomie
- Stack completions for badges finishing five Easy quests earns Zip Qualified!, five Intermediate earns Edward Qualified!, and five Hard earns Oliver Qualified!
- Spend shards in the Skins Shop Delta Shards buy cosmetic outfits and are separate from Student Points
Playing as a Teacher
TipsYou are chosen as a Teacher automatically if you are among the top three Malice earners going into a round. Each of the three Teachers — Miss Bloomie, Miss Thavel, and Miss Circle — has a different moveset. During the last 30 seconds of the round, all Teachers must return to their office or they receive no points for surviving.
- If a Student lands a hit on you with the Bat, or successfully blocks your attack, you will be briefly stunned
- Miss Circle enters Failure mode when sufficiently enraged — her attacks cannot be blocked in this state
- Miss Thavel's Pounce cannot be blocked by Students
- During a Blackout you gain night vision while Students cannot see clearly
- Generators make noise as they charge; move toward that sound to intercept Students trying to restore power
Settings worth adjusting before you start
CheckOpen the menu by tapping the red triangle with the S in the top-left corner of the screen. The epilepsy warning in the game description is serious — flashing imagery is present throughout.
- Photo-sensitive mode on if you are affected by flashing lights it tones down the most intense visual effects
- Low-detail mode on if the game runs slowly it removes textures to improve performance
- Prop Enabled off if you still need more performance non-collidable objects disappear
- Waypoints Enabled on while learning it shows you where the shops are on screen
- Skip Teacher Tips off until you have played each Teacher at least once
- Hitbox debug on temporarily if you are unsure whether attacks are landing it turns green when a hit registers

Common questions
FAQHow do I become a Teacher or Alice?
Teachers are chosen automatically — you cannot pick the role yourself. The game selects the three players with the most Malice going into each round. Alice is different: you need the Alice gamepass, plus 150 survivals and 500 kills before the role becomes available to you, and she only appears every fourth night.
What should I do during a Blackout?
Look for a room with a yellow door that has an electrical warning symbol — that is the Electrical Room. Before you start the generator, check that no Teachers are nearby, because the charging sound is audible to them.
Can I flash the same Teacher three times to finish the Yearbook Photographer quest?
Yes. The quest only checks whether you have fired the Polaroid Camera three times at a Teacher, not whether three different Teachers were photographed. Flashing the same Teacher three times in one camera completes it.
How do I collect my quest rewards?
Since October 10, 2026, rewards are paid out automatically the moment you complete a quest. You no longer need to walk back to the board and press a Claim button.
My items disappeared after I died — is that a bug?
No, that is intended. Items do not carry over if you die as a Student. They do persist through the end of a Teacher round.
