Cave Diving Experience is a Roblox exploration game where you squeeze through tight cave passages, mine ores, and upgrade your pickaxe to reach deeper and more dangerous areas. The game has underwater caves, lava zones, and geothermal tunnels, each requiring different gear to survive. This guide walks you through the ore progression, cave entrances, key locations, and the gear you need to push further underground.
In shortThe core loop is simple: mine ores, smelt them into ingots, craft better pickaxes, and use the new pickaxe to reach caves you couldn't before.
Every run starts at the spawn area, which has six named cave entrances at different difficulty levels. Inside those caves you find ore nodes — mesh crystals that stand out from the surrounding terrain. You mine them, haul the ore back to the furnace using coal as fuel to smelt ingots, then visit the blacksmith to craft a stronger pickaxe. Better pickaxes unlock harder ores, and harder ores unlock the next pickaxe tier. Some areas also demand specific gear — scuba equipment for flooded passages and a thermal suit for the lava-heavy geothermal zone.
Starting point six named cave entrances at spawn, ranging from Easy to Crystal Cave difficulty.
Ore nodes mesh crystals attached to cave walls; mine them to collect up to nine minerals per node.
Coal the fuel for every smelt; without it you cannot turn any ore into an ingot.
Furnace and blacksmith smelt ore into ingots at the furnace, then craft pickaxes at the blacksmith.
Gear scuba gear for underwater caves, thermal suit for the geothermal caves.
Cave Rescue system use it if you get stuck and cannot find your way back out.
In shortEach ore tier requires a specific pickaxe to mine, so you have to work through the chain in order.
The table below shows every ore, the pickaxe you need to mine it, and where to find it reliably. Rarity increases as you go down the list, and the coins column reflects sell value relative to other ores — diamond and obsidian sell for the same rate per kilogram even though diamond feels rarer.
Ore
Pickaxe needed
Best place to find it
Notes
Coal
Starter pickaxe
Near every cave
Fuel for the furnace; cannot be smelted itself
Copper
Starter pickaxe
Close to spawn
Lightest ore; used to craft the copper pickaxe
Iron
Copper pickaxe
Geothermal Caves, Mineshaft
Second pickaxe tier; required for titanium pickaxe recipe
Gold
Iron pickaxe
Mineshaft and connecting caves
Heaviest ore in the game; marks the start of mid-game
Titanium
Gold pickaxe
Mineshaft and a cave below it (4 deposits)
Also needs iron in the crafting recipe
Obsidian
Titanium pickaxe
Deep geothermal caves (heat suit required)
Grinding back and forth to spawn is part of the process
Diamond
Obsidian pickaxe
End of Geothermal Cave, end of Impossible Cave
Same value per kg as obsidian; pickaxe costs 1 million coins
Emerald
Obsidian or diamond pickaxe
Atlantis (bring scuba gear), Diving Bell
Rarest ore; glows green; pickaxe costs 2 million coins

The six named entrances at spawn each lead to a different family of caves. Difficulty climbs steeply past Hard, and Extreme caves branch into some of the game's most punishing and rewarding locations. Flooded and Crystal Cave have their own separate character — Flooded is full of interconnected water tunnels, while Crystal Cave connects to Son Doong, the largest cave in the game.
Easy and Medium cavestwo shared entrances.
Hard cavecontains Nutty Putty, Devil's Butt Crack, Catacombs, Subzero, the Waterfall, Atlantis, and the Diving Bell.
Extreme cavetwo entrances; leads to Swamp, Beach, Geothermal Caves, Impossible, Hell Hole, Lava Cast, and Thai Cave Rescue.
Flooded cavereached via the Extreme cave entrance marked 'tight water passages'; inside are flamingos, ropes, and titanium, gold, iron, copper, and coal deposits.
Crystal Caveleads further in and connects to Son Doong; follow the red crystals after diving into the water to find the exit.
Son Doongthe biggest cave in the game; roughly 30 minutes end to end if you know the route; contains coal, copper, iron, gold, and a single diamond ore near the throne at the far end.

Surviving the Geothermal Caves
Step
In shortThe thermal suit is not optional past the second lava bridge — without it, the heat kills you even before the lava does.
The Geothermal Caves descend about 1,300 metres and are considered one of the hardest areas in the game. Lava kills instantly on contact regardless of your equipment, so every move counts. The cave also holds obsidian and diamond, two of the rarest ores available.
Buy the thermal suitpurchase it from the merchant shop for 12,000 coins before you attempt this cave; you must wear it constantly after passing the second lava bridge.
Use ragdoll at the entrywhen you first drop into the cave near the evil ducks section, activating ragdoll helps you navigate the initial descent.
Cross the lava parkouron the far side of the main chamber there is a lava pool with a parkour route leading to the obsidian and diamond ore deposits.
Watch the passage branchesabove the parkour area a hole near the ceiling opens into roughly five different passages; most are dead ends or lava.
06
Finding hidden areas
Tips
In shortSeveral of the game's most memorable spots are tucked inside routes that have no obvious signage.
Many badge-earning locations are reached by noticing small gaps or unmarked turns rather than following a main path.
Tips worth knowing
Swamp — enter the Extreme cave marked 'tight water passages', descend to water at around 50 metres, swim almost to the end, then look left for a patch of marshy soil with a small hole leading into the Swamp.
Waterfall (Subzero) — go into the Hard cave, take the hole at 40 metres, bear right past the copper ore, find the two close black points and drop down, then zigzag through lava rocks until you hit ice at 305 metres; the floating ladders just after that mark the Waterfall.
Son Doong — dive into the water inside Crystal Cave and follow the red crystals to the exit; no scuba gear is needed for this crossing.
Atlantis — bring scuba gear; emerald ore is far more abundant there than anywhere else.
07
Badges worth chasing
Tips
In shortMost badges reward genuine exploration, so they double as a checklist of places and challenges you should try anyway.
The game has 22 badges. Discovery badges unlock when you reach hidden areas; challenge badges require clearing specific hard passages. A few are earned by accident.
Tips worth knowing
Lava! — fall into lava at any point.
Subzero and Waterfall — awarded for reaching the icy Subzero area and then finding the Waterfall within it.
Swamp — reach the Swamp through the Extreme cave route.
Lava Cast — make it to the bottom of Lava Cast inside the Extreme cave system.
Nutty Putty and DBC — two of the hardest badges; both require squeezing through extremely tight passages in the Hard cave.
Impossible — the badge description calls the achievement nearly impossible by legitimate means.

Glossary
Glossary
Ragdoll physics
A setting where your character's body moves with physical simulation, which helps you squeeze through tight passages and control awkward drops.
Thermal suit
Protective gear bought from the merchant for 12,000 coins; required to survive the heat in the deep sections of the Geothermal Caves.
Scuba gear
Equipment that lets you breathe and move through fully flooded cave passages, needed for Atlantis and other underwater areas.
Ingot
The processed form of a mined ore after it has been smelted in the furnace using coal as fuel; required for pickaxe crafting.
Cave Rescue system
An in-game feature that gets you out when you are completely stuck and cannot navigate back to spawn on your own.
Ore weight
Each ore spawns with a weight value; heavier samples are physically larger, sell for more coins, and contribute more material to the blacksmith's crafting recipes.
Common questions
FAQ
I keep dying in the Geothermal Caves even with the thermal suit on — what am I doing wrong?
The thermal suit protects against the ambient heat, but it does not protect against direct lava contact, which kills you instantly no matter what you are wearing.
Do I need scuba gear for every water section?
Not always. The water crossing inside Crystal Cave that leads to Son Doong does not require scuba gear — the passage is short enough to swim without it. Atlantis and the deeper flooded areas do require scuba gear, and Atlantis is also the best place to farm emerald ore.
What devices can I play Cave Diving Experience on?
The game runs on mobile, tablet, PC, console, and VR.
Why does the Swamp have so many ores?
The Swamp holds five gold, two iron, seven copper, and around eleven coal deposits in a single area.
