About

Overview

Grave/Digger is a tactical, WW1-inspired underground shooter on Roblox where two factions — the Golden Empire and the Royal Nation — fight through a nearly fully mineable cave environment. Combat is slow and deliberate, rewarding positioning and patience over rushing. This guide covers the basics of shooting, healing, and positioning so you can survive longer and help your team.

Gun controls from the ground up

Step
In short Aiming before shooting is required in almost every situation, so build that habit from your first match.

Every gun in the game has a handful of controls you need to know before you head into a fight. Aiming is not optional — you cannot fire most weapons without holding the aim button first. Keeping an eye on your reserve ammo (the white bar beside your count) stops you from running dry at a bad moment.

  1. Hold RMB/LT to aim then press LMB/RT to fire.
  2. Gunbash or hip-fire press LMB/RT without aiming to bash with your weapon.
  3. Reload press R/X whenever you have a lull in the fight.
  4. Check ammo press T/Y to see your current magazine and your reserve supply.
  5. Alternate action press Q/LB for your weapon's special mode; on the starter Prince long rifle this switches to Single Fire, reloading one bullet between each shot.
  6. Focus hold Shift/Right Stick while aiming to steady your shot.

Reading your hits

Tips
In short Blood puffs tell you whether you hit and where, so watch for them instead of guessing.

At long range it can be hard to tell if your shots are connecting. The game gives you a visual cue for every hit so you are never in the dark. Headshots are the most powerful outcome in a firefight and worth understanding before your first match.

Tips worth knowing
  • A small cloud of blood appears on any part of the body you hit — that is your hitmarker.
  • A noticeably larger puff of blood means you landed a headshot.
  • A headshot on any player without a helmet kills them instantly, no matter how low your weapon's damage is.
  • Stray shotgun pellets are the one exception — they do not trigger instant headshot kills.
  • Wearing a helmet keeps you alive through shots that would otherwise end you immediately.
03

Healing without getting yourself killed

Warn
In short Healing takes time and leaves you vulnerable, so always find cover before you pull out the first aid pouch.

Every player starts with 200 HP, except Shock Troopers at 300 HP. If your health drops below 100 HP, your body stops regenerating on its own — you must heal manually. Using your first aid pouch does not bring you back to full health, so do not assume you are safe afterward. Healing another player by aiming at them and holding the fire button is faster than letting them heal themselves, so look out for wounded teammates.

Worth watching out for
You cannot run while healing walking is the fastest you can move with the pouch out.
After you stop healing and put the pouch away, there is a short delay before you can draw your weapon again.
Hold Q/LB to use Peridaxon, which removes all stimulant effects including sickness.
Sickness turns your screen nearly monochrome, shakes your aim, and blocks regeneration remove it with Peridaxon as fast as possible.
You cannot apply Peridaxon to another player; tell sick teammates to use it themselves.
A Mortician can heal you to full with their medkit, or to 150 HP with a medical syrette.

Positioning and movement in the mines

Tips
In short The mineable terrain is the biggest tactical tool in the game — use it to create angles and cover that do not exist by default.

Grave/Digger is designed around slow, careful gunfighting. The environment is nearly fully mineable, which means fights are not limited to the paths that exist when the match starts.

Tips worth knowing
  • Mine windows into rock walls above floor level to create firing positions enemies will not immediately see.
  • When playing Jaeger, use Sensitive Hearing to detect enemies mining toward your position.
  • The Apparition perk briefly dims your lantern when you kill someone, helping you stay hidden during a side-sniping run.
  • Getting onto a compound roof — by mining above it or using internal ladders — gives a strong angle, but expect enemies to call it out and push back.
05

Team play and common strategies

Tips
In short Every major strategy works better with teammates who know what you are doing, so communicate when you can.

Several playstyles show up repeatedly in Grave/Digger matches. Knowing what they look like helps you either run them yourself or counter them when an enemy uses them.

Tips worth knowing
  • Flanking — loop around the main battle line to hit enemies from the side or rear; speed and surprise are everything.
  • Side sniping — mine a window into the rock behind or beside an enemy compound and pick them off from a hidden angle.
  • Roofing — reach the top of a compound to fire down on enemies; countered by climbing up to meet you or shooting you from range.
  • Base trapping — Jaegers place traps at an enemy base entrance during the brief gap between reinforcement waves.
  • Thanking a teammate after they heal you or give you ammo grants them Morale, a direct in-game benefit.

Controls and commands to know

Check
In short A few key bindings and commands exist outside of combat and are worth knowing before you need them.

Beyond the weapon controls, Grave/Digger has a small set of menu shortcuts and commands. Mouse and keyboard give you access to everything; console play is possible but not fully supported, and some controls will not work on a controller.

  • M opens the in-game menu.
  • L opens the command bar so you can type text commands directly.
  • vk/[NAME] in the command bar starts a vote to kick a player.
  • /restoredata typed into the command bar restores your kill count and hours from the Beta period.
  • Mouse and keyboard are the recommended setup if you are on a controller, expect some features not to work.

Common questions

FAQ

Why can't I shoot without aiming?

Almost every weapon requires you to hold the aim button before the fire button will work. The one notable exception is the Talon Army Revolver, which has a unique ability that lets it fire from the hip.

My screen went black-and-white — what happened?

That is the sickness effect, and it also shakes your aim and stops you from regenerating health. Press Q or LB to apply Peridaxon to yourself, which clears it. You cannot apply Peridaxon to a sick teammate — tell them to do it themselves.

I healed but I still feel fragile. Did the pouch not work?

The first aid pouch does not fully restore your health. A Mortician can heal you to full with their medkit, or to 150 HP with a medical syrette.

Can I play on a controller?

The game allows console play, but it is not fully supported and some controls will not function correctly. Mouse and keyboard give you access to every feature.

How do I get rid of a cheater or a disruptive player?

Press L to open the command bar and type vk/[their name] to start a vote-kick.
