Choosing your weapon type
TableEvery weapon type hits at the same rate — 16 times per 10 seconds — so the real differences come down to critical chance, skill damage multiplier, and how wide the swing reaches.
| Longsword (one-handed) | 12% crit, 3x skill multiplier; dual-wield pushes the multiplier to 3.3–5x with a much wider arc |
| Greatsword (two-handed) | 18% crit, 2.75x skill multiplier; Berserker Animation Pack widens the attack arc further |
| Katana (two-handed) | 15% crit; Ninja Animation Pack increases frontal reach |
| Rapier (one-handed) | 11% crit but the highest skill multiplier at 3.2x |
| Spear (two-handed) | 21% crit, the highest of any weapon type |
| Dual wield warning | if the two swords differ in strength, your damage per hit is 60% of your right hand plus 40% of your left, so mixing a strong sword with a weaker one will reduce your total output compared to just using the stronger sword alone |
Upgrading gear at the Forge
StepForges sit in Arcadia, Helmfirth, Spooky Hollow, Frosty Fields, and Permafrost Purgatory. Dismantling a piece of gear at the left side of the Forge returns one Upgrade Crystal of the same rarity, which you can then spend on a different piece. How far you can upgrade a weapon depends on its rarity: commons and uncommons cap at +10, rares at +15, legendaries and tributes at +20, and bursts at +25.
- Common Crystals dismantle Iron Longswords for a quick supply
- Rare Crystals farm Rotlings in Hidden Wilds, as they drop these reliably
- Legendary Crystals use the Crystal Forge in Helmfirth to convert five Rare Crystals into one Legendary Crystal
- Avoid dismantling legendary weapon drops the drop itself is worth far more than a single Legendary Crystal
Daily and weekly quests
CheckQuests scale with your level, so rewards grow as you progress. The daily quest Some Enemies — kill 250 enemies — pays a level 55 player 55,000 Vel and 8,250 experience, while a max-level player earns 400,000 Vel and 60,000 experience from the same task. Finishing a full set of five dailies or five weeklies unlocks a completion bonus on top of the individual rewards.
- Run Some Enemies daily the payout scales well at every level
- Chase the Daily Completion bonus by finishing all five daily quests each day
- The weekly Enemies Galore requires 2,500 kills and Bosses Galore requires 200 boss kills
- Rare Finger requires dropping 5 rare items; Legendary Finger requires dropping 1 legendary item
- Grab the Weekly Completion bonus once five weekly quests are done
- Some Levels only appears until five levels before the level cap
Skills worth using
TipsThe community tier list sorts skills into Best, Situational, Rarely Used, and Useless. Three skills sit clearly at the top for normal gameplay.

- Cursed Enhancement is the only damage-buff skill in the game — it multiplies your normal hits by 2.5x, which is especially effective for boss kills
- Water Blast stuns enemies for 7 seconds in a large area while using very little stamina
- Event skills such as Vampiric Rampage are limited-time

Redeem codes
StepCodes give out boosts, crystals, and other items. Most codes can only be used once per account. Limited-time codes can expire without warning. New codes are announced in the official Discord server.
- Open the menu tap the Wrench icon to open Settings
- Enter your code type it into the box at the top of the Settings screen
- Four permanent codes are always active and work from level 1 onward
- Just 4 Fun codes change your character's appearance or trigger silly effects and can be used repeatedly
- The code 'plsno' makes you go invisible, unable to move, removes your name tag, and prevents interaction a rejoin is needed to recover; 'plsyes' kicks you from the game with the message 'No!'
Drop rates and item rarity

- Common 4% drop chance, upgradeable to +10
- Uncommon 2% drop chance, upgradeable to +10
- Rare 1% drop chance, upgradeable to +15
- Legendary 0.1% drop chance, upgradeable to +20
- Burst above legendary rarity, upgradeable to +25

Common questions
FAQWhat happens when I defeat a floor boss?
Beating the boss on a floor unlocks new areas to explore. Clearing the Floor 1 and Floor 2 bosses each earns you a badge. The Catacombs arena boss Sa'jeff also has its own badge upon defeat.
Why is it so hard to get a legendary item?
Legendary drops have a 0.1% chance per kill, which is forty times rarer than a common drop at 4%. The weekly quest Legendary Finger gives you bonus rewards the first time a legendary drops each week.
Does it matter which hand I put the stronger longsword in when dual wielding?
Yes — damage is calculated as 60% from the right hand and 40% from the left. If you dual wield two of the exact same weapon, the damage will be the same as single wielding it. Critical Chance and attack speed are not increased by dual wielding.
How do I get Upgrade Crystals without spending Vel?
Dismantling any piece of gear at the Forge returns one crystal matching that item's rarity. For commons, break down Iron Longswords. For rares, hunt Rotlings in Hidden Wilds. For legendaries, combine five Rare Crystals at the Crystal Forge in Helmfirth.
