Three roles and what each one needs to do
TableAt the start of every round, the game assigns you a role that only you can see. Other players cannot tell what you are, and that hidden information is the heart of every round.
| Innocent | survive without a weapon and work out who the Murder is |
| Sheriff | use your gun to stop the Murder, without revealing yourself too early |
| Murder | use your knife to eliminate other players while keeping your identity hidden |
First things to do when a round begins
StepRushing off the moment a round starts is one of the fastest ways to get yourself into trouble. Take a few seconds to orient yourself before you move.
- Read your role check the role display before you do anything else so you know your goal for this round.
- Find two exits locate at least two ways out of wherever you are standing right now.
- Learn the space note where open areas, dead ends, and corners are so you can use them later.
- Keep your distance avoid moving straight toward other players until you know more about the situation.
- Check weapon controls if you have been given a weapon, read the on-screen control guide before you need to use it.
How to play as the Innocent
TipsThe Innocent has no weapon, so positioning is your only real defence. Rooms with only one way in or out put you at the mercy of whoever walks through the door.
- Stick to rooms or corridors that have at least two exits.
- Before entering any narrow space, confirm you can back out of it.
- If the same person keeps following you, change your route and see whether they follow again.
- Avoid clustering around the Sheriff, since you can block their shot.
How to play as the Sheriff
TipsThe Sheriff can stop the Murder, but showing your gun early makes you the Murder's first target. Blend in with the Innocents until you have something concrete to act on.
- Move like an Innocent at the start of the round so you do not stand out.
- Only draw your gun once you have personally seen a knife or an attack.
- Choose an open spot with clear sightlines before you shoot, so other players are not in your line of fire.
- If you miss, move away immediately rather than standing still.
How to play as the Murder
TipsThe Murder loses the moment the Sheriff identifies and shoots them, so drawing attention early is the biggest mistake you can make. Patience in the first part of a round pays off later.
- Do not show your knife straight after the round begins.
- Avoid attacking in places where multiple players have a clear view of you.
- If a chase goes on too long, break it off and take a different route.
- Do not keep attacking from the same corner or corridor — vary your approach.
- In the final moments of a round, check where the remaining exits and players are before you commit to a move.
Telling strong evidence from weak evidence
TableMany rounds are decided by players jumping to conclusions. Someone walking alone or changing direction quickly does not prove anything; Innocents and Sheriffs do the same thing for safety reasons.
| Strong | you personally saw a knife or a gun being used |
| Strong | you personally watched an attack or a long deliberate chase |
| Medium | someone left the scene of an elimination in a hurry |
| Weak | a player is moving alone or changed direction |
| Weak | a chat message accuses someone without any supporting observation |
Mistakes that get beginners eliminated
WarnMost early losses come down to a short list of repeating habits. Recognising them is the first step to avoiding them.

Common questions
FAQCan I choose my role before a round starts?
Roles are assigned automatically at the start of each round.
Can I pick up a weapon that is lying on the ground?
You can pick it up when the on-screen prompt appears. Before you run toward it, take a moment to check the nearby corners and exits.
I don't understand how to progress — what should I do?
Read your role display the moment each round begins, then find two exits from where you are standing.
Can I change my settings while a round is running?
Yes, Roblox lets you adjust settings mid-game.
Any tips for playing on a smartphone?
Moving the camera too sharply during a chase makes it easy to lose track of where you are going. Lower your sensitivity a little and keep the camera pulled back far enough to see the space around you. Also watch out for accidentally pressing the weapon button instead of jump.
What should I keep in mind when playing with friends?
Sharing your role with friends outside the game removes the hidden-information element that makes each round work. If you want to communicate, describe what you have seen — locations, actions, and whether you spotted a weapon — rather than just announcing roles.
