BARRY'S PRISON RUN Guide: Before you start
About
OverviewBarry's Prison Run is an obstacle-course game made by PlatinumFalls where you sneak through a prison, dodge the guard Barry, and fight your way to a helicopter escape. This guide walks you through every major section — from your cell to the boss fights — so you can get unstuck and keep moving.

Before you start — difficulty and camera
CheckThe game is designed to be played in first person, but you can switch to third person at any time — the choice is yours. On difficulty, Easy and Hard follow a similar route, but Hard adds more obstacles and traps. Learn where the tools are and how the boss fights work on Easy first, then tackle Hard once you know the path.
- Set the difficulty to Easy for your first run
- Try first person if you are comfortable, or third person to see more of the course around you
- Follow the yellow arrows they mark the correct path throughout the whole prison

The next survey is being prepared.
Getting out of your cell and into the underground
StepThe very first thing new players do wrong is try the cell door. It does not open. The actual route starts vertically — climb the top bunk, walk along the wall pipe, and open the vent. From there the path takes you across a spiked pit using a metal grate, then through another vent opened by a wrench you pick up from the right wall. After that you need to get past Barry and reach the toilets, where digging in the second stall from the right drops you underground.
- Climb the top bunk this is the exit from the starting cell, not the door
- Press the button on the metal scaffold a grate appears that lets you cross the spike pit
- Pick up the wrench from the right wall use it to open the next sealed vent
- Move past Barry wait until he is facing away, then hug the wall
- Enter the toilets and dig in the second stall from the right this is the entrance to the underground
Lava zone and mid-game obstacles
TipsThe underground throws lava rocks, a cracked wooden bridge, and rolling lava balls at you in quick succession. After the lava section a ladder leads to a room with Barry, then an elevator, an energy drink from a vending machine for the fast section, and finally a stepladder that needs to be placed under a high vent.
- Jump to the centre of each black rock — one jump at a time
- Face the exit before stepping onto the cracked bridge and run without stopping
- Move into the next hollow only after a lava ball has just passed — never try to sprint through the whole gap at once
- In Barry's room aim for the handle at the far right without crossing in front of him
- Drink the energy drink at the vending machine before the fast section, then jump at the yellow line at the edge of each block
- Carry the stepladder to directly below the high vent in the warehouse before climbing
Three valves, the fan corridor, and the boss fights
StepA steam-filled section blocks the way forward until you close all three valves: one on the upper right, one at the far left of the lower level, and one past the pipes on the lower level. Once all three are shut, climb back up via the metal scaffold near the first valve and enter the vent above. The fan corridor comes next — use small, short left and right inputs or you will fall. The cafeteria after that is where you fight chef Garry, and then Mecha Barry.
- Close the upper-right valve this is the first of three
- Close the lower far-left valve this is the second
- Close the lower valve beyond the pipes this is the third
- Return to the metal scaffold near the first valve and climb to the now-clear upper level
- In the fan corridor keep every left and right input short and gentle
- In the cafeteria go behind the counter to pick up the food bazooka before attacking Garry, keep moving around the outer edge while shooting, and do not drop the bazooka you need it for Mecha Barry too
When you keep failing the same spot
TableIf you are dying in the same place over and over, the problem is almost always one of three things. If an interactive object like a valve or button is not responding, aim at its centre, back away, and approach it again.
| Landing short | jump from closer to the edge of the platform |
| Flying over the target | release the forward key just before you land |
| Falling sideways | line up your camera and body straight before jumping |
| Getting hit by lava balls | move only immediately after a ball passes, not before |
| Object not responding | aim at the centre of it, step back, then walk up again |
| Spawning at the start | make sure you are passing through each checkpoint as you go |
Free-to-play and paid items
SummaryThe full prison course can be cleared without buying anything. Robux purchases are mainly cosmetic. Paid movement items can change your jump distance, which can actually make precise landings harder for newer players.
- Main course fully playable at no cost
- Robux items mostly skins and appearance changes, not needed to finish
- Paid movement gear alters jump distance, can make tight landings harder for beginners
Glossary
Glossary- Obby
- Short for Obstacle Course — a Roblox genre where you jump and run through a series of challenges to reach a goal.
- Checkpoint
- A spot on the course that saves your position so you restart there instead of at the very beginning after you fall.
- Food Bazooka
- A weapon found behind the cafeteria counter that you use against both chef Garry and Mecha Barry.
- Valve
- One of three handles in the steam section that you must turn to clear the path forward.
- Easy / Hard
- The two difficulty settings — Easy and Hard share a similar route but Hard adds more obstacles and traps.
- Lag
- A delay between your inputs and what happens on screen, caused by a slow connection — switching to a different server can help.
- Robux
- The in-game currency used across Roblox, spent here mainly on cosmetic items rather than anything needed to complete the course.
Common questions
FAQCan I use third-person camera the whole time?
Yes, completely. The game notes that first person is the designed experience, but the choice is yours.
Do I need to buy anything to finish the game?
No. The entire main prison escape is free to play. Robux purchases cover cosmetic items like skins, and none of them are required to reach the helicopter.
How do I beat chef Garry in the cafeteria?
Go behind the counter and pick up the food bazooka before you start attacking. Keep circling the outside of the cafeteria while you shoot, and do not put the bazooka down — you will need it again for the Mecha Barry fight.
I closed two valves but cannot find the third — where is it?
The three valves are: one on the upper right, one at the far left of the lower level, and one reached by going past the pipes on the lower level. If you have two, the missing one is most likely the pipe-side valve on the lower floor.
