Your first class choice
TableTwo classes are available to every player from the start without spending any points: the Rifleman and the Gunner. They fill very different roles, so knowing which one you are playing before the match starts saves a lot of frustration. The Rifleman is selected automatically when you first spawn, so you are already playing it the moment you enter a map.
| Rifleman | bolt-action rifle with bayonet and trench club; no selection limit; strong at mid-to-long range |
| Gunner | light machine gun only, no melee weapon; limited to 2 players per side at a time; support role focused on suppression rather than kills |
Playing Rifleman effectively
TipsThe rifle kills with one headshot or two body hits at range, and the bullet connects instantly with no travel time. That makes long sightlines your best friend. Linear maps like Roland's Prairie reward a rifleman who finds cover early and holds a firing line. The bayonet charge gives a brief speed burst, but your turning control drops and you cannot sprint again until you land the kill, so only use it when the enemy is directly in front of you.
- Find cover at the start of every match before trading shots with other riflemen
- Use headshots at range — one hit is enough to drop an enemy
- Save the bayonet charge for straight-line situations; never try it around corners
- After a bayonet charge that misses, back away — you will not be able to sprint immediately
Playing Gunner effectively
TipsLight machine guns start inaccurate but tighten up the longer you hold the trigger down. The real value of sustained fire is the suppression effect, which throws off enemy aim even when your bullets miss. Open ground suits the Gunner best, since the class carries no melee weapon and cannot defend itself in a knife fight.
- Hold the trigger continuously to let accuracy build up over time
- Aim in the general direction of enemies — suppression works even without direct hits
- Target enemy snipers specifically, since sustained fire stops them from taking clean shots
- Stay in wide-open areas and let Assault or Sweeper players handle tight spaces
- Remember the 2-player selection cap — check whether a slot is open before trying to spawn as Gunner
Teamwork and the Support role
TipsCENTAURA rewards players who look after their side. The badge CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR requires healing 30 teammates without killing anyone, which shows that a full support run is a recognized way to play. FEEDING THE FIRE awards you for healing a teammate who is on fire. Be aware of your own explosions — an enemy flametrooper's fuel tank can detonate and kill a teammate standing next to it, earning you the FRIENDLY FIRE badge rather than a kill.
- Healing teammates is a legitimate strategy, not a fallback for players who cannot shoot
- Check whether burning teammates need a heal before anyone else — fire kills fast
- Stand clear of enemy flametrooper fuel tanks; the blast radius can down your own teammates
Theater Veteran badges and the campaign structure
StepCENTAURA's maps are organized into theaters, each covering a different region of the continent. Three theaters are fully playable right now. Each has a Veteran badge that requires you to play every map in that theater in a single session, in order, without quitting. Two extra badges unlock after: CENTAURAN WAR VETERAN requires you to collect every campaign veteran badge, so it is the final goal of the entire campaign.
- Cetan Theater start at Blackton and finish at Whitemouth Estuary without leaving
- Aquilan Theater start at Roland's Prairie and finish at Talona without leaving
- Vegan Theater start at Murus Plateau and finish at Abrigo Dezenove without leaving
- The Rifleman's rifle variant can be changed once you own any Theater Veteran badge or a kill badge
Kill badges and what they ask of you
SummaryThree badges track how many enemies you defeat in one game. They stack in difficulty and require you to stay alive and productive across most of a match. Reaching 100 kills in one match also unlocks the ability to change your Rifleman rifle variant, so kill badges have a practical reward beyond the badge itself.
Private server commands
TipsCENTAURA supports private server commands, which means you can set up a session that only invited players can join. The full command list is published by the developers in their forum post, linked from the game's page.
- Check the developer forum link on the game's page for the current command list
- Private servers work on desktop, console, and mobile

Common questions
FAQWhich class should I pick as a beginner?
Start with Rifleman. It has no slot limit, costs no points, and is selected automatically when you first spawn.
Can I earn the Theater Veteran badges in multiple sessions?
No — each Veteran badge requires you to play through all of that theater's maps in a single session without quitting.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. The game supports private server commands that let you create a session only your group can join. The command list is linked from the game's official page on Roblox.
What does owning a kill badge or Theater Veteran badge actually change?
It unlocks the ability to change your Rifleman's rifle variant. That means your starter weapon is not fixed once you earn any of those badges.
