About

Overview

FATHOM [HORROR] is a horror escape game set in Fathom Amusement, an underground theme park that shut down after an incident. You break in, something wakes up, and it can hear everything — your footsteps, your chat, even your voice on the mic. This guide covers how to survive, what tools you have, and how the game's two modes and Chapter 1 choices play out.

Two modes to start from

Table
In short Pick Story Mode to work through the mystery chapter by chapter, or Chase Mode to get straight into the hunt.

Before you enter the park, choose how you want to play. Story Mode takes you through the chapters in order so you can uncover what happened at Fathom Amusement. Chase Mode drops you directly into the pursuit. Both modes support solo play or up to four players in one room.

Chase Modeskip the buildup and go straight into the monster chase

02

What the monster can hear

Warn
In short The monster reacts to footsteps, chat text, and anything you say on your microphone — so silence is your main survival tool.

From the moment you arrive, the monster is already aware of you. It can climb walls and crawl through vents, so simply staying in one spot is not enough. Every sound you produce is a signal.

Worth watching out for
Running too much creates footsteps that give away your position
Typing in chat is audible to the monster
Speaking into your microphone sends your voice directly to the monster
The monster can move through walls and vents, so it can reach you from unexpected angles
03

Three tools for staying alive

Step
In short Your grapple, camera flash, and the lockers each solve a different problem.

You have three ways to push back or get away when the monster closes in.

  1. Grapple use this to move quickly along an escape route
  2. Camera flash point it at the monster and fire to temporarily blind it
  3. Locker step inside and stay completely silent when the monster is nearby
04

The Chapter 1 choice and its badges

Tips
In short Finishing Chapter 1 unlocks a branching choice, and each path gives you a different badge.

Completing Chapter 1 earns you the Chapter 1 Complete badge and then immediately presents a decision. The path you pick changes what comes next and determines which badge you collect at that point.

Tips worth knowing
  • Choosing to go home earns the Go Home badge
  • Choosing to go deeper earns the Go Deeper badge and continues into the park
  • Progress is saved automatically, so you can return later and try the other choice in a separate run
  • The Welcome badge is awarded simply for entering the park for the first time
05

Earning the Untouchable badge

Check
In short Clear Chapter 1 without losing a single life to unlock Untouchable.

Untouchable is awarded for finishing Chapter 1 without losing a life.

  • Keep footsteps to a minimum
  • Avoid typing in chat or using your microphone unless the monster is far away
  • Use the camera flash when the monster approaches head-on
  • Duck into a locker any time the monster is near and you cannot escape
  • Use the grapple to reach safety quickly

Common questions

FAQ

Does my progress save if I leave mid-run?

Yes — the game saves your progress automatically. When you come back, you can pick up from where you left off without starting over.

Can the monster find me even when I'm hiding?

It can climb walls and crawl through vents, so it can reach almost anywhere. It reacts to footsteps, chat, and microphone audio.

Can I get both the Go Home and Go Deeper badges?

Yes, but not in the same run. Because progress is saved, you can reach the Chapter 1 ending again in a later session and choose the other option to collect the second badge.

Is it possible to play alone?

Solo play is fully supported.
