Getting into your first job
StepWhen you first join, your avatar appears on the left side of the lobby screen. If it is your first time, a tutorial from The Boss will pop up — you can skip it or replay it later from Settings. The party leader selects the job site, sets the difficulty, and hits Ready Up; every other player must also ready up before the round starts. Equipment and Perks can be added before starting, but they cost Cash and are optional.
- Pick a job site the party leader selects the location from the available options.
- Set difficulty choose Easy for your first few runs; it is the most forgiving setting.
- Choose Juniper Road this site is small, making it much easier to learn the layout.
- Add equipment (optional) any team member can add gear, not just the leader, but it costs Cash.
- Ready up everyone on the team must hit Ready Up before the job can start.
- Skip or watch the tutorial new players can skip from the Settings menu.
Two types of equipment and how to use them
TableAll evidence-gathering tools fall into one of two categories. Active tools need you to hold them or switch them on to produce readings. Passive tools only need to be placed near the ghost room and will register evidence on their own. The EMF Reader sits between these two: you can turn it on to hunt for EMF Level 5 evidence, but it also picks things up passively.
| Active | must be held or switched on; examples include the Blacklight and the Spirit Box. |
| Passive | place near the ghost room and let them work; examples include the Flower Pot, Spirit Book, and Laser Projector. |
| Semi-active (EMF Reader) | can be switched on for targeted evidence, but also functions passively. |
Finding the ghost room and reading evidence
TipsThe ghost room is where the ghost is most active. Three confirmed pieces of evidence are enough to identify the ghost type. On Easy mode, evidence can disappear after roughly three to five minutes. If the room temperature reads below 0.01°C, you have confirmed Freezing Temperatures as one piece of evidence. You can also type commands in Roblox chat — phrases like 'Show Yourself' or 'Can you write in the book' have a one-in-five chance of prompting a ghost response.
- Confirm three pieces of evidence before submitting your identification.
- On Easy, check your evidence quickly since it can expire after a few minutes.
- A room temperature below 0.01°C counts as Freezing Temperatures evidence.
- Chat commands like 'Give me a sign' can trigger ghost responses, each with a one-in-five success chance.
Surviving a hunt
WarnA hunt begins when average Energy drops below 50%, though some ghosts can start one earlier than that threshold. The front door locks for the duration of the hunt, so you cannot leave the building. Electronics and flashlights malfunction when a hunt begins — the Ghoul is the only exception. The ghost lets out a loud wail as a warning before physically manifesting.
Ghost abilities worth knowing
TipsEvery ghost has unique abilities that can give away its identity during normal activity, not just during hunts. Some traits are observable without any equipment at all.
- The Siren hums when responding to the Spirit Box and can slow players down during chases.
- The Vex can walk directly through walls.
- The Demon can start a hunt earlier than the standard energy threshold.
- The Dullahan moves faster when it has line of sight on a player.
- Ghost models are randomised each job and do not reflect the ghost type, so never guess the type from appearance alone.

- Active equipment
- Tools like the Blacklight or Spirit Box that must be held or switched on to gather evidence.
- Passive equipment
- Tools like the Flower Pot or Spirit Book that collect evidence automatically when placed near the ghost room.
- Difficulty
- A setting chosen before each job that affects how early evidence can expire and how aggressively the ghost behaves.

Common questions
FAQCan I play Demonology alone?
Yes — the lobby lets you start without other players. The game supports solo play, but it is designed around co-op teams of up to six.
How do I know when a hunt is about to start?
The ghost lets out a loud wail just before it physically appears. At the same moment, electronics and flashlights will start to malfunction — the Ghoul is the only ghost that skips the electronics effect. Head to a hiding spot like a closet as soon as you hear the wail.
Why can't I find any evidence even after searching everywhere?
On Easy mode, evidence can disappear after roughly three to five minutes, so you may have arrived too late. Make sure the right equipment is active or placed in the ghost room, and confirm you have actually located the ghost room rather than searching random areas.
Does the ghost's appearance tell me what type it is?
No — ghost models are randomised every job and are independent of ghost type. Rely entirely on equipment readings and the three-evidence system to make your identification.
